Big Day Out

On June 12th Friday 2015, the staff of Design Advocacy set their pens, paper and AutoCAD aside for the annual fun day out. Held at the newly opened Ananthaya Resort in Chilaw, the staff together with their families enjoyed a jam packed day of games, great food and music. The slightly delayed departure did not detract from the experience as the party began as soon as the bus left.

There was something for everyone, be it relaxing by the pool, showing off your muscles during Tug of War or hoovering down the delicious nibbles plates. The kids too enjoyed a fun day wading in the pool and running around in the vast open grounds of the hotel.

The hotel itself was beautiful and we were greeted with a cool looking purple mocktail, the contents of which I deduced to be Guava and Lime. There were two pools and each boasted a beautiful view of the ocean. The spa area, the board walks and the chalets were also beautiful and proved to be a nice walk. Unfortunately as it is the season when the sea is rough we could not go wading in the ocean.

The day started off with classic games like tug of war and ones that were so brand new they weren't named yet. One of the most interesting games was running around a traffic cone five times and attempting to run back to your team while retaining balance. There were plenty of drinks and nibbles to go around to keep fuelled after a day out in the sun. Lunch was delicious with many choices. Most opted to bypass choosing and just go for everything! After lunch the day was less formal with some deciding to relax, swim and splash around in the pool or simply walk around the beach. The day ended with coffee and delicious cake.

We finally left around 6pm and everyone reached their homes safe and content. Here are some happy snaps from the day.
